Semester Pledge to Undergraduate Students
Your advisor(s) is preparing to work with you to develop effective plans leading to timely graduation as the university prepares for the transition to semesters. Academic advisors will understand how the changes in courses and curricula may affect students' degree programs, will know where and how programs can be flexible, and will be prepared to assist students in planning their remaining time to graduation, whether you are graduating in quarters or semesters.

- For questions about general education requirements, please consult your academic advisor.
- Attention students with transfer credit: Any "general" transfer credit awarded prior to summer 2012 should be resolved BEFORE the semester switch. See your advisor ASAP.
- Talk with your advisor about how to plan your sequenced courses. For example, find out if you should take your next math course in quarters or semesters.

Questions and Answers
Q: Will I still be able to graduate on time?
A: Yes - provided you work closely with your academic advisor, beginning now, to develop an academic plan toward timely graduation. Your academic advisor will have access to a transition plan for your major. Work with your advisor to make sure that you are making expected progress towards your degree. (See the Pledge to Students for more details.)
Q; How will semesters affect Commencement?
A: When Ohio State converts to the semester calendar, there will be three Commencement ceremonies each year: at the end of Autumn Semester, at the end of Spring Semester, and at the end of Summer Term. Note, however, that May Session and Summer Session are both part of the Summer Term, so there will not be a separate Commencement at the end of May Session.
Commencements will be held on the Sunday following the end of the final exam period. This means that Autumn Commencement will take place usually in the third week of December (in 2012, Autumn Commencement is on Sunday, December 16); Spring commencement will take place usually at the end of the first week of May (in 2013, Spring Commencement is on Sunday, May 5); and Summer Commencement will take place usually at the beginning of August (in 2012, Summer Commencement is on Sunday, August 12)
Q: Are students able to take a full-time load of course work at anytime during semesters?
A: Technically the system will allow students to enroll in 12 credit-hours (which is full-time status) for ANY session. However, taking 12 hours during May Session or during a 7-week session would be challenging to schedule and manage, and would not be recommended or encouraged.
